The City of Wapato encourages caution and safety this Halloween.

ATTENTION: RESIDENTS AND FRIENDS OF WAPATO Due to the current situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Wapato would like to encourage caution and safety this Halloween. This is the reason the city will not be having or assisting with any Halloween activities as it has in past years. The “Yakima Health District explicitly discourages Door-to-Door Trick or Treating as this promotes close contact with members of different households, which may increase the risk of exposure to COVID-19.” The Center for Disease Control has also stated that “Trunk or Treat” scenarios have the same inherent risk as Door-to-Door Trick or Treating. While it may not be ideal, there are numerous other ways to celebrate Halloween and limit exposure. The reward of participating in risky activities is minuscule compared to even one person being infected with the virus. On behalf of The City of Wapato and myself, we wish everyone a safe and Happy Halloween.Keith Workman Mayor City of Wapato
